EVENT REBRAND
Lex Gala
Educational nonprofit Lexington HSC first approached me years earlier to design a simple logo for their fundraising auction, Food, Wine & Song. Fast forward 7 years, and this annual event had grown into an upscale affair with wider offerings including craft beers, specialty cocktails, and unique themes.
Relaunching as The Lex Gala, they needed fresh, modern branding that also stayed true their core identity as a tight-knit mountain community. |
During our discovery session, the client was drawn to clean line art paired with the personal touch of hand-lettered fonts. Inspirations included hills, redwoods and wildcats - the mascot and namesake of the town, Los Gatos. The final logo incorporated mountain peaks, a ribbon of road representing the highway that connects the community, and a touch of glamour provided by the gold confetti, signaling that this event would be an elegant affair.

The existing branding had an outdated, small-scale feel.

Final Branding Elements
EVENT MARKETING
Lex Gala: Mountain Mardi Gras
For the inaugural event of the rebranded Lex Gala, I developed a themed elements, promotional pieces, a landing page and and engaging marketing copy. These pieces were designed to showcase the playfulness of the year's theme, Mountain Mardi Gras, while reflecting the elegance of the gala's newly refreshed image.
The color palette lead with the black and gold from the Lex Gala, adding traditional Mardi Gras purple and green in vivid hues. The chief graphical element was inspired by New Orleans' iconic wrought-iron fences, echoing the line drawing style of the new Lex Gala logo. The resulting pieces conveyed the feel of the event - whimsical, elegant and full of surprises. |
Event Program: Copy & Design
The event program needed to serve as schedule, menu, auction catalog, and bid paddle. Designed in a maximalist style, this tall-format program reflected the wild good times of New Orleans while providing guests the necessary information to navigate the event. A mix of stylized fonts and clean graphic flourishes allowed for a visually memorable piece that was practical as well as engaging.
